【摘要】:1.1Thisguidecoversageneralapproachtoplanningfieldinvestigationsthatisusefulforanytypeofenvironmentalinvestigationwithaprimaryfocusonthesubsurfaceandmajorfactorsaffectingthesurfaceandsubsurfaceenvironment.Generally,suchinvestigationsshouldidentifyandlocate,bothhorizontallyandvertically,significantsoilandrockmassesandgroundwaterconditionspresentwithinagivensiteareaandestablishthecharacteristicsofthesubsurfacematerialsbysamplingorinsitutesting,orboth.Theextentofcharacterizationandspecificmethodsusedwillbedeterminedbytheenvironmentalobjectivesanddataqualityrequirementsoftheinvestigation.Thisguidefocusesonfieldmethodsfordeterminingsitecharacteristicsandcollectionofsamplesforfurtherphysicalandchemicalcharacterization.Thisguidedoesnotaddressspecialconsiderationsrequiredforcharacterizationofkarstandfracturedrockterrane.InsuchhydrogeologicsettingsrefertoQuinlanandGuideD5717,(1).1.2ThisguidereferstoASTMstandardmethodsbywhichsoil,rock,vadosezone,andgroundwaterconditionsmaybedetermined.Laboratorytestingofsoil,rock,andground-watersamplesisspecifiedbyotherASTMstandardswhicharenotspecificallydiscussedinthisguide.LaboratorymethodsformeasurementofphysicalpropertiesrelevanttoenvironmentalinvestigationsareincludedinAppendixX1.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
