【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthequalitativedeterminationoftheacidityofhydrocarbonliquidsandtheirdistillationresidues.(Warning-Manyhydrocarbonliquidsareextremelyflammable.Harmfulifinhaled.Hydrocarbonliquidvaporscancauseaflashfire.)Ifdesiredtodeterminethebasicityofahydrocarbonliquid,proceedinaccordancewith9.2or9.3,butsubstitute3dropsofphenolphthaleinindicatorsolutionforthemethylorangeindicator.Apinkorredcolorintheaqueoussolutionwhenphenolphthaleinisusedindicatesbasicity.Theresultsobtainedbythismethodarequalitativeexpressions.However,forthepreparationofreagentsandintheprocedure,acceptableSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
